His works combine elements of traditional Spanish folk music, Andalusian flamenco, and French Impressionism with a distinctive harmonic language. His \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003eHomenaje, Pièce de guitare écrite pour Le Tombeau de Claude Debussy\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e (1920) was composed in memory of Claude Debussy, whom Falla greatly admired. Written for solo guitar, the work incorporates the rhythm of the habanera, expressive harmonies, and subtle references to Debussy’s music. The piece was premiered by guitarist Miguel Llobet in 1921, who also contributed to its early performance history.
