Nocturne (Notturno) No. 1, Op. 4 by Johann Kaspar Mertz. Mertz was a Hungarian guitarist and composer who wrote many concert works for guitar as well as some easier collections including Op.4. I absolutely love this piece! Although it is above my actual skill level the video together with the sheet music from Werner Guitar Editions allow me to make progress playing this piece. The video is brilliant both with regard to explaining the music as well as teaching some technical skills. I also use other materials from this series to supplement my techniques practice. There is so much choice, information and teaching available that I don’t need to look elsewhere for inspiration.
