As a very mature student (82 yo) with no musical background, Bradford's books have given me some hope of playing some easy classical guitar pieces.
I have 30-minute lessons each week following our school year, so there are holiday breaks. I have been using this grade one book.
I enjoy having Bradford's Video lessons as a follow-up to my teacher's input.
My playing needs to improve, and one way that I would like to see it would be that the videos have a dedicated section/chapter, playing at half speed. (?) so that I can play along as I learn where to place my fingers. I have a TV monitor hooked up to a PC keyboard, so it is easy for me to replay small segments, but these segments/phrases are sometimes still too fast for me to follow.
After finishing method books 1 & 2. Then playing the late beginner repertoire sheet music ( plus using Technique book for beginner routine ). Then I took grade 1 repertoire. Book is well written and easy to understand along with the videos. Going at my on pace and playing slowly until I have it correct. I highly recommend Bradford Werner books to everyone. I have learned more about playing classical music from Bradford Werner method than a private teacher. I am at his level 3 repertoire book. As long as you pay close attention to what Bradford Werner saying you will definitely reap the wonderful rewards of learning Classical guitar.
Thanks so much for sharing! I really appreciate it.
