Agustin Barrios was a Paraguayan classical guitarist and composer. He was one of the great performers of his time and a prolific composer. Una Limosna por el Amor de Dios (Alms for the Love of God - a common phrase of beggars) is one of the most famous tremolo works in the classical guitar repertoire. It is sometimes referred to as El Ultimo Canto or La Ultima Cancion or El Ultimo Tremolo. The work was written shortly before the composer’s death in 1944. The main thing to remember about tremolo works is that the upper music voice, the repeated notes, are the melody that creates the illusion of a continuous melodic line. Although the bass figuration is interesting, since it simply repeats over and over it is not considered the melody (although you'll still want to shape it musically).
